There are a number of pirate warbands located throughout the sector. Some operate from small asteroid fields, moons or space junk yards. Others form bands in the outer rim parts of the subsectors, trying to avoid Imperial eyes.
The pirate bands can be dangerous with some Ork, Gorganos and mixed race pirate groups at large in different parts of the sector. However, it is the Eldar Corsair Pirate fleet, ‘The Night Vipers’ commanded by Prince Menlyth , which is far the biggest pirate threat in the Turbidious Sector.

The Turbidious Sector has had a longer a storied past but one of the consistent themes has been it being a hub for commerce and trade in the Imperium, especially the core sub-sector that shares its name.
The vast amount of trade has meant plenty of fortunes won and lost throughout the ages and it is this huge amount of wealth that led to the construction of two sister ships of such size that they could only be classed as Universal Mass Conveyors. The Astral Lions are generally a codex compliant Space Marine Chapter that were originally based the Lindholm subsector in the Turbidious Sector.
However, their Homeworld was destroyed and the Lions are now a crusader fleet based. The loss of their Homeworld due to Chaos is seen as a great shame in the Chapter and so they have self-exiled themselves to a crusader fleet. The Chapters aim is to purge all Chaos from the Sector once and for all. If a full Chaos incursion along with various xenos attacks weren’t enough for the beleaguered Battlefleet Turbidious and the Imperium at large to deal with reports indicating a huge Ork Waaagh wont of helped matters.
The increased warfare in the sector has drawn out the Orks from their various kingdoms like moths to a flame. The Lunar class cruiser makes up the backbone of the Imperial Navy. Its (relatively) uncomplicated design dates back to the dawn of the Imperium, and it can be constructed at worlds normally unable to build a ship of the line. Many other cruiser classes are actually retrofitted or slightly modified Lunar hulls, such as the Dictator and Gothic classes.
A particularly infamous ship stalks the Turbidious Section, an ancient vessel that has stalked the void since before the Heresy. Her name…. The Arch Baron Lord Vanneus is thought to be behind several raids on outlying systems in the Turbidious Sector. A known powerful warlock formerly of the vile Thousand Sons legion he escaped the Rubric curse cast on his chapter but only barely.
The overall command of the Chaos Warhost lies with Warmaster Vargas. While he wears the mantle of leadership and directs the various facets of the Black Crusade in the Turbidious Sector Vargas allows his lieutenants to act freely to some degree.
One of the highest regarded lieutenants is Lady Nassa Araberina who commands the Exquisite Host fleet and her patron God is the Prince of Pleasure Slaanesh. The capital world of the Turbidious Sector is Turbidious Primaris, which is located at the heart of the Sector and it is a powerful and wealthy world. Due to its location at the centre of the Sector with good warp routes to and from the system, Turbidious Prime grew into an industrial powerhouse, with its resource rich crust providing the early wealth for the planet to develop.
With the birth of the Living Saint Emmelia on the world of Nightfall Primus, the Turbidious Sector had a figure to rally behind as they challenged the Chaos incursion. The Chaos Warmaster Abel Vargas recognised the threat the Saint posed to his plans and aimed to crush her outright but the Chaos Lord was not counting on the quick response of the Imperium to their new hero.
Imperial vox and pict reports have indicated the presence of older classes of Eldar vessels sailing the void in the Turbidious Sector.
These field reports were provided to the Adeptus Mechanicum for cross referencing and the Magos Explorator Jayum has provided dossiers on these ships. The Imperial records indicate that there appears that there are two distinct classes of the older Eldar class of ships. |
