I have been threatening to make some actual 3D terrain for my BFG fleets for some time. Back when I first started a mate built a number of brilliant looking asteroids and I always wanted to replicate that but also create moons and planets for my fleets to battle around and eventually other celestial phenomena. Well I finally got round to the planet and moon bit of my great plan. I purchased a couple of polystyrene balls, ranging in size as a base for the first planet and moon. I found you can pick these up in any craft store and also here in Australia most of the cheap stores selling various items do as well. I actually found them cheaper in those bric-a-brac stores. I then bought some spakfilla from a local hardware store, the kind that’s meant for sealing edging in the bathroom etc. The idea is to cover the polystyrene in the sealant so then I could spray them with primer without the worry of melting the polystyrene. This allows gave the added effect of a rocky planet and moon that I was going for. I used standard Mechanicus grey primer for the larger planet and chaos black primer for the moon to start. I wanted to moon to look a little darker. I then sprayed the planet with white primer in portions to give some evidence of an atmosphere with clouds and also gave it an ice cap. This, I hope, gives the idea that the planet could be lived on, maybe under the surface cities or warrens. Maybe it could also be a potential tomb world. And finally the two finished bits of Terrain. My plan will be to do another moon and then do a smooth planet next.

Nice Information ... If planets were as close as the moon to the earth. Or If the moon were replaced with some of our solar system planets like Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Uranus. How would they look like?
