I always thought that the Kroot would also have smaller ships than just the one huge warsphere that the original game produced (same with the demiurg too, but that for another article). Then my thoughts were confirmed with the Blackstone Fortress box game release. Within that box set there are ship cards and there is a Kroot vessel in that you can use. However, I felt it looked a little too clean, to refined to be an actual Kroot ship. On Instagram I received a message which also suggested that this particular Kroot has modifications, so it would stand to reason they would have a different ship or a modified one (thanks @ironbeak_mercenaries). So I set about making my own version. Firstly I wanted them to look like the parent warspheres and so took the inner hub of the larger ship and created a mould. The aim was to create two halves that would then somehow fit together (but slightly apart). I used blue stuff to create the mould and then used green stuff in the mould. I gave it a day for the green stuff to set and then out popped these: I made up 6x halves in total, enough to make three escorts. I then used the small bit that the flight stands come with, cut it down and used it as the small connection between the two halves. Then it was time for undercoat and dry brushing. I feel that Kroot ships are functional and not for aesthetics really. So went with a metallic scheme. Then detail painting and placing it with its larger brethren.
I also asked my Instagram followers what the name of this Kroot Class of ship would be and they came back with: I decided to go with:
I decided to go for the Drekh Class in Kroot and when translated into Gothic it would be called a Battlesphere. I havent thought up stats yet but open to suggestions. What you think my fellow admirals? I may look into 3D printing a version in the future, as I know a few others have suggested. An finally here they are and with their big brother:
