Like many sectors that have felt the touch of a Tyranid hivefleet tendril, the first time the Turbidious Sector knew of Hivefleet Wyvern was when several worlds simply stopped any astropath communication. The eastern portion of the galaxy has experienced its fair share of Tyranid invasions and so the Sector quickly recognised the need to meet the threat head on. It was designated Hivefleet Wyvern. This particular Hivefleet managed to consume two worlds in the south of the sector and began to consume its next world in its path before the Imperium could respond. The Imperial Navy took on the Hivefleet above the world of Chillon Tertia but quickly realised the fleet composition was very different to previously understood Tyranid fleets and tactics. The Hivefleet Wyvern used multiple different types of ships, all of which appeared to have a designated function within the fleet. It was almost like facing off against an Imperial fleet. The Tyranids had grown numerous ships which had not been seen previously and they fulfilled different roles. Some were specific boarding and close space engagement ships, with grasping claws and tentacles that engaged at close range. While other organisms appeared to be long range in nature, holding back to both protect the hiveships and provide long range pyro acid fire. Additionally, there appeared to be dedicated ships sowing spore mines throughout the potential planetary entry zones. In the end the Imperial Navy had to withdraw from Chillon Tertia, the sheer number of organisms and spores prevented any chance of relief. The Hivefleet has continued to consume the world and there is little hope for Chillon Tertia surviving, the main concern now is preventing more worlds falling to a similar fate. There are vox and holo reports of two very specific tyranid organisms that the Mago Biologis are keen to investigate further. One seems similar in nature to a one off creation from the Bhein Morr Sector. A very unique specimen that operates independently of the main hivefleet. The second creature is monsterous in size, larger than the typical hive ships that birth and control the smaller organisms. The ship was briefly observed around Chilon Tertia and could be what the Magos have designated a Norn Hivequeen. A ship that gives birth to the hive ships themselves. The Inquisition has made destroying such a creature the priority. Only holo available of the Beast Hivefleet Wyvern has appeared to splinter in several prongs, each consisting of different organisms and each aiming for different races within the sector. The Inquisition believes that the Hivefleet is trying to gather different biomass to develop even more specialised ships. One splinter arm is currently engaging the Imperium and this adheres to the pattern observed at Chilon Tertia. While two other splinter arms are engaging a chaos and pirate haven in The Veil, a portion of the Belenous Subsector. Here they appear to mimicking the hit and run and long range tactics favoured by the chaos warbands present. While another splinter has continued north and is engaging a relatively small Ork Kingdom in the Galilei subsector. Here, Hivefleet Wyvern is attacking with ferocious close combat organisms. While fighting the enemies of mankind does help the Imperium in the short term, the concern is that this will only make the Hivefleet stronger and more adaptable to various theatres of void warfare.
With the Turbidious Battlefleets already fully engaged preventing the archenemy warp invasion and Ork Kroosade, the Hivefleet Wyvern invasion could not have come at a worse time. Especially with the shadow in the warp growing stronger.
