There have been recent Astropathic reports of a single lone ship that is preying on the merchant vessels in the Galilei subsector, mainly within the systems of the Helios Cluster. The merchant fleets that were attacked and stripped of their goods were left broken and lifeless shells, totally silent and devoid of life. Recovery teams didn’t find any trace of the crew aboard, no corpses, blood or signs of a struggle could be found. It was as if they had been cleansed. The psyker reports that have been received indicate that shipping attacked by this vessel drive any mind attuned to the warp insane, with the description being called ‘the silence’. The psykers that hear this so called ‘silence’ become empty shells, all life sucked from them. The crews who returned from inspecting the empty ships were all taken by Inquisition after also complaining of something called ‘the silence’. While the Inquisition investigates the nature of this phenomenon the ship records recovered from the destroyed ships indicate that the enemy vessel was utterly silent until the last moment when it opened fire. There was no indication that the ship was even present and it has thus far caught all ships off guard. It appears from the logs that the ships destroyed hadn't even attempted to go to battle stations. The Mechanicus have been informed with the aim to review the potential of inertia drives and cooling coils that could have been fitted to help the ship run ‘silent’ while it crept up on its targets. A curious case though is that a graveyard of pirate and chaos vessels was identified in the Bandit Expanse, a system one over from where this ship is thought to prowl. The ruinous power vessels also had the trademark ‘cleaned’ appearance, inside and out. It is whispered but the Sons of Malice might be in the Turbidious Sector. The Sons of Malice Hades class cruiser is a one of a kind ship that haunts the Turbidious Sector. One of these ships can be fielded in any Chaos fleet and will typically fight alongside them against the Imperium, a foe that they felt betrayed them. However, they also despise their fellow Chaos brethren and will fire on them as well if the situation presents itself.
When fighting in a chaos fleet should the Sons on Malice cruiser fail a leadership test they will automatically fire all their weapons at the nearest chaos cruisers that are in arc. This is done before the movement phase during the orders. If the ship fails its leadership the opponent can fire all the weapons at the chosen targets within arc and range. It has to be the closest Chaos vessel. The Sons of Malice cruiser cannot be taken in any Imperial fleet. Due to the silent running system on the cruisers engines the ship appears to glide in and out of view. This makes the ship hard to track. Use the daemon ships phase in and out rules for this process but no other additional rules apply from the daemon ships rules (i.e it does not repair any damage). Once the ship fires it causes other ships in close proximity to panic due to the sudden ambush. Enemy ships with 15cm of the ship suffer -2 to their leadership. Due to the ship running 'silent' ships that are on special orders within 15cm of the ship does not gain the +leadership bonus other ships receive. The Sons of Malice cruiser hates all other Chaos, you cannot put any Warlord on this ship or mark of Chaos. The Son of Malice cruiser can upgrade to have a Space Marine Crew for an additional +35 points to represent a member of that warband being present.
