As the conflict across the Turbidious Sub-Sector grew more and more convoys were targeted by the Chaos Warhost. Chaos vessels would appear almost from nowhere and obliterate less guarded convoys without mercy. Sometimes they would take ships alive and make off with them into the Warp. However, on rare occasions the Imperial Fleets were not alone, Craftworld Eldar of the Aemelith were known to assist conoys when attacked by Chaos.
The largest attack came when a Chaos Warhost struck at an eight strong convoy of transports, laden with fuel, troops and perishables. Curiously the Chaos vessels attempted to capture the transports rather than destroy them. Unfortunately the Imperial flotilla protecting the transports were utterly destroyed. Not all was lost though, a minor victory for the Imperials was had, only one transport was captured by the Chaos fleet. The remainder of the transports escaped for blew themselves up rather than risk capture. The ongoing attacks on the convoys meant Imperial High Command devoted greater resources to protecting them, even using capital ships for protection. However, this played into the Chaos Warhosts corrupted hands as there were less Imperial warships available to protect outlying systems.
